The 48th Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation High Officials Meeting was held recently in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting carried the theme “Leading Through Learning: Empowering Schools and Communities in Southeast Asia."

The meeting was attended by Doctor Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Hj Tajuddin, Permanent Secretary for Core Education at the Ministry of Education. This year, Brunei Darussalam served as Chair of the meeting for the In Camera and Plenary Sessions in its capacity as SEAMEO Council Presidency.

Brunei Darussalam also had the opportunity to present Brunei Darussalam's Initiatives on School Leadership and Teacher Professional Development which aims to support the professional growth and leadership capacity of school leaders. Also held was a panel discussion on Strengthening Teacher Professional Development Systems in Southeast Asia.
